Michael and Laura Allred have produced a wonderful looking cover for this weeks issue of FF. The rock face background instills a fear of inevitable death, with our heroes falling perilously. Medusa’s hair looks incredible, as always, because her hair really does have a life of its own. In this scenario it is trying to grab her friends and keep them together as they fall. The subtle effects of each character fall in a different pose adds uniqueness with Ant-Man being shrunk and Darla falling in complete fear. The colouring is a great contrast of the dark grey rock facade with the the brightly coloured FF, giving the feel of a closing space and falling into the depths. Now if we observe carefully then we can see where the magic happens, because there are two sets of small arrows at the top and bottom of the book. If you fold the book so the arrows join then we have the transformed cover below. It is an incredible picture as you then begin to notice Doom’s face coming together. It would not be too far a push to imagine that Doom may have actually carved his image into a rock face! Even the FF symbol matches, with the horizontal stroke of the first F being completed by stone. The title of the cover reads, “Do you know where death will come from when you least expect it?” and when the cover folds, we receive the ominous answer, “Doom”. Just wonderfully original and innovative and, quite easily this weeks cover of the week. Kudos to Michael and Laura Allred.

You just blew my mind. I totally overlooked the arrows!

Brilliant idea indeed. I’m glad I read your COTW or I never would have known. Thanks!
